FEE-HELP is applicable to Australian Citizens but please check with your institution for eligibility and requirements.
I do not have a TFN and there is not enough time to receive one before starting my course What should I do?
Apply in person at the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) for a TFN and ask them, when applying for a TFN, for a Certificate of Application for a TFN.
Can I apply on-line on the ATO website or at an Australian Post Office for a TFN?
Yes you can apply online however it could take several weeks to receive the TFN and you will be unable to request the Certificate of Application for a TFN so unless you are applying for the TFN more than 1 month prior to course commencement you MUST request the TFN at an ATO office.
If I apply for a TFN on-line at the ATO website or at Australian Post Office they provide a receipt to confirm that I have made an enquiry. Can I use that receipt to apply for FEE-HELP?
No. To apply for a FEE-HELP and start the course you must have a TFN or a Certificate of Application for a TFN.
If I am unsure on how to complete the Request for FEE-HELP Assistance form who should I contact?
You should contact staff at Pathways2Uni Student Centre.
Is there a charge for applying for FEE-HELP?
No there is no application charge but there is a 25% loan fee based on the FEE-HELP loan that you receive. Please see Study Assist – FEE-Help website for more information.
Can I use a copy or faxed Request for FEE-HELP assistance form?
No. Only the original Request for FEE-HELP Assistance form is acceptable.
What happens if I do not have a TFN when completing the Request for FEE-HELP Assistance form?
You will be unable to obtain FEE-HELP assistance unless you have a TFN or can provide a Certificate of Application for a TFN confirming that you have applied for a TFN.
I have already applied for a TFN. When should I provide the TFN to the institution?
Provide a Certificate of Application for a TFN from the Australian Taxation Office confirming that you have applied for a TFN. Then as soon as you have received your TFN, provide this to staff at the institution you have received your offer from.
Who do I give the completed Request for FEE-HELP Assistance form to?
The admissions staff at the institution that you received your offer from.
When do I need to submit my Request for FEE-HELP Assistance form at my institution?
At many institutions you are required to submit your Request for FEE-HELP Assistance form at time of admission, when you accept your offer of a place on the course. This is the point at which a non-FEE-HELP student is required to pay fees. Either tuition fees need to be paid or your application to become a FEE-HELP student needs to be received to allow enrolment in units of study.
Can I enrol in a unit of study at the institution before deciding whether I want to become a FEE-HELP student or pay fees up front?
No, the required tuition fee must be paid or a request to become a FEE-HELP student must be received by the institution before enrolling in a unit of study.
