FEE-HELP – Study Now, Pay Later!

By November 14, 2018 FAQ, FEE-HELP No Comments

Did you know that pathway and bridging programs are also supported by the Australian Government’s FEE-HELP scheme?

Eligible Australian students have access to the FEE-HELP scheme for many Bachelor Degrees and VET FEE-HELP for Pathways2Uni Diplomas.

These are government loan schemes that can help you pay for all, or part of, your tuition fees. Repayments start through the tax system once you are in the work-force and your income rises above the minimum repayment threshold.

You might also be able to receive a study allowance from the government to assist with living costs. Too easy!

Below we’ve answered some of the most common questions you might encounter about the FEE-HELP scheme. If you still have more questions, feel free to contact us on enquiries@pathways2uni.com.au

How do I know if I am eligible for FEE-HELP?

You are eligible if you:

  • Are studying at an approved provider or through Open Universities Australia (OUA)
  • Meet the citizenship and residency requirements
  • Are enrolled in an eligible unit of study by the census date for that unit
  • Have not exceeded the FEE‑HELP limit
Where can I find out if my institution is an approved provider?

To access a HELP loan, students must be enrolled with an eligible Australian education provider. Eligible providers are categorised as universities, approved private higher education providers, Open Universities Australia (OUA) or an approved Vocational Education and Training (VET) provider. You can find a full list of all approved providers here.

How can I apply for FEE-HELP?

You’ve worked out you’re eligible to receive a FEE-HELP loan, so how do you apply? First of all you would need a Tax File Number and a Request for FEE-HELP assistance form, available from your education provider. Make sure you read the FEE-HELP Information Booklet before signing and submitting your form. Once you have all you require, you must submit the signed and completed form to your provider before the census or administrative date. If you do not submit your form on or before the census date, you will not be eligible for a FEE-HELP loan.

But don’t panic! If you’ve made a mistake you have six weeks from the census date of a unit to correct any errors on your form that would prevent you from being eligible for FEE-HELP.

Too easy, right?
